The Olney Town Center Advisory Committee Seeks Community Input

Late in 2007 the Olney Town Center Advisory Committee (OTCAC) began soliciting input on a Draft Illustrative Concep and Design Guidelines of the Olney Master Plan. The Illustrative Concept is an extension and refinement of the guidance found in the Olney Master Plan approved in 2005. The Illustrative Concept has now been revised in response to the many comments received from individuals and organizations in the greater Olney community. The OTCAC is currently working on the Design Guidelines that complete this document. During the latter part of 2010 and possibly on into 2011 the Committee will reach out to the community for their comments on these Guidelines. The Guidelines will then be amended as needed in response to those comments.

The complete document, now entitled the Olney Town Center Conceptual Illustration and Design Guidelines, will then be presented to the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission's Planning Board. It is the hope of the OTCAC that this document captures the vision the community has for our town center and will serve as a guide to future developers and designers interested in developing properties in the town center. In the meantime, the Advisory Committee has begun to actively work on a concept plan for a civic center and town commons in the town center and is continuing to refine the design guidelines associated with the Conceptual Illustration. Public input continues to be encouraged throughout the development of these documents and in connection with any of the work being done by the Advisory Committee. The Committee is putting together a plan for their upcoming outreach efforts.
